Evan Engram caught 4-of-5 targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos’ Week 1 loss to the Chiefs.
Engram’s trip to paint came from 19 yards out on the team’s second possession to knot the score at seven in the first quarter, which would be the last time the team would be within striking distance for the remainder of the game. Nix’s timing was continually thrown off while under mounting pressure from Steve Spanguolo’s Kansas City defense, resulting in numerous off-target throws. Engram managed to corral two such throws and turn otherwise poor passes into completions for his young quarterback. Regardless of the low yardage total, Engram managed to score for the second time wearing the Denver blue and orange after notching just one touchdown in his first year with the team in 2025. Engram remains a low-upside TE2 ahead of a Week 2 matchup against the Jaguars.-Mark Garcia
Travis Kelce caught 3-of-5 targets for 71 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 1 win over the Broncos.
Kelce passed Jason Witten to move into second on the all-time tight end receiving list with a 59-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter. Even so, the veteran tight end lacked any semblance of the burst that once made him a matchup nightmare, slow out of breaks while appearing to take multiple plays off that were not drawn up for him. His once-strong connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes also looked off on the two incompletions directed his way, both bad misses. It will likely take time for the timing to resurface between the two and Kelce appears unlikely to command meaningful volume, leaving him as a middling TE2 ahead of a soft matchup against the Colts in Week 2.-Mark Garcia
Chiefs declared QB Garrett Nussmeier, TE Jared Wiley, OT Diego Pounds, OT Josh Simmons, DT Bryson Eason, LB Jack Pyburn, and S Chamarri Conner inactive for Week 1 against the Broncos.
Offensive tackle Josh Simmons was ruled out earlier in the week, with the other six players raising no surprise as the Chiefs open their season against the visiting Broncos. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes makes his return to the roster following a torn ACL suffered in 2025 as the team debuts a new-look offense following the addition of running back Kenneth Walker and return of former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.-Mark Garcia
Greg Dulcich caught 2-of-2 targets for 18 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 loss to the Raiders.
Both of Dulcich’s targets occurred on the third drive. One was a six-yarder via play action. The other was a delayed screen pass, which Dulcich admirably ran for 12 yards, picking up a first down along the way. The fact that he was barely involved in a pass-heavy game script bodes poorly for his TE1 viability. He does not need to be rostered in 12-team leagues heading into Week 2.-Nic Bodiford
T.J. Hockenson caught 4-of-5 targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Packers.
Hockenson finished second on the team in targets, though his 17 percent target share isn’t much to write home about. He found paydirt late in the third quarter on a red zone strike from Carson Wentz over the middle of the field. Wentz was filling in for a concussed Kyler Murray, who will likely miss Week 2. Hockenson is more of a TE2 than a true TE1, but his strong Week 1 outing at least puts him on the border versus the Bears next week.-Kyle Dvorchak
David Njoku caught all five of his targets for 58 yards in the Chargers’ Week 1 loss to the Cardinals.
Njoku logged a pass route on 19 of the team’s 31 drop backs and was third on the Chargers in targets. Oronde Gadsden, meanwhile, ran a grand total of seven routes and caught both of his targets for 32 yards. Charlie Kolar, listed as the team’s No. 1 tight end in August, was not targeted on 13 routes against Arizona. Njoku should have some deep league value as the team’s TE1 in Week 2 against the Raiders.-Denny Carter
Dallas Goedert caught 4-of-5 targets for 77 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ Week 1 win over the Commanders.
Goedert found himself on the receiving end of two touchdown passes from Jalen Hurts, with the first coming on a 17-yard strike in the end zone on a third-and-goal from the Commanders’ 17-yard line. In the fourth quarter, Hurts and Goedert took advantage of some defensive miscommunications by the Commanders, which resulted in a 43-yard touchdown after a long catch-and-run by Goedert, who totaled 29 yards after the catch on his way to the end zone. Goedert continues to be a reliable red zone threat and is coming off a season in which he totaled a career-high 11 touchdowns. He’s off to a strong start to this season and will be a boom/bust option in next week’s game against the Titans.-Zachary Krueger
Trey McBride caught 9-of-13 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals’ Week 1 win against the Chargers.
It was a typically dominant McBride performance against a Chargers coverage unit that had no idea how to stop the speedy, big-bodied receiving threat. McBride’s big day included a 27-yard reception and a touchdown in the corner of the end zone that all but put away the ballgame. McBride led the Cardinals with a 33 percent air yards share. His Week 2 matchup against the Seahawks will be much tougher, but McBride remains the best tight end in fantasy. Last year he had 16 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown in two games against Seattle.-Denny Carter
Chig Okonkwo caught 2-of-3 targets for 16 yards in the Commanders’ Week 1 loss to the Eagles.
Okonkwo exited late in the third quarter with a hamstring injury and did not play in the fourth quarter. Okonkwo’s biggest play came on a 15-yard gain in the third quarter, but he was otherwise held in check by an Eagles defense that gave the Commanders fits all afternoon. His injury status will be one to monitor heading into next week’s game against the Cowboys, where he’ll be a boom-or-bust TE2 if active.-Zachary Krueger
Cole Kmet caught 2-of-3 targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in the Bears’ Week 1 win against the Panthers.
Colston Loveland, meanwhile, caught exactly zero passes as the Bears put up 59 points against a nonexistent Carolina defense. Kmet ran a route on 19 of Caleb Williams’ 39 drop backs against the Panthers and came down with one of Williams’ two touchdown tosses on the day. Kmet will have some fantasy value going forward as long as he has some route running involvement in the potent Chicago offense. He can be added in deeper leagues ahead of Week 2.-Denny Carter
Cade Otton caught 3-of-5 targets for 26 yards in the Bucs’ Week 1 loss to the Bengals.
This is about a standard Otton statline, though this one came on a day where Baker Mayfield attempted fewer than 30 passes. With Jalen McMillan sidelined, Otton probably would have exceeded five catches had the Bucs not kept killing drives with sacks and turnovers, alas. Otton is always good for a few PPR points on the back end of the TE2 ranks, but that appears to be his ceiling heading in to his age-27 campaign.-Patrick Daugherty

Three Bengals tight ends caught at least one pass, but All somehow was not one of them. That will probably change going forward, but this is confirmation that it’s going to be a while if All is to develop back-end streamer relevance this season.-Patrick Daugherty
Mike Gesicki caught 5-of-7 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 1 win over the Bucs.
Gesicki led the Bengals in catches, targets and yards and was the only pass catcher to score on an afternoon where the Bucs’ defense was funneling Joe Burrow to the middle of the field. Gesicki’s score was a two-yarder where he rolled in to the end zone in the first quarter. Gesicki’s yardage total would have been his second highest of 2025. He’s a valuable real-life contributor, but he is going to have trouble cracking the top 18 tight ends on a regular basis with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown all usage monsters for the Bengals.-Patrick Daugherty
Gunnar Helm caught 4-of-5 targets for 28 yards in the Titans’ Week 1 loss to the Jets.
Helm gobbled up snaps as he tied Carnell Tate for the second most Titans receptions on an afternoon where Cam Ward completed just 19 passes. Helm is looking heavily involved in the offense, it’s just unclear if that will even amount to anything in this situation. Week 2 is going to be tough against the Eagles before a slightly more forgiving Week 3 date with the Giants. For now, Helm is not a recommended TE2.-Patrick Daugherty
Juwan Johnson caught 3-of-7 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ Week 1 loss to the Lions.
Johnson didn’t catch his first pass of the game until the final minute, when Tyler Shough found him in the end zone for a game-tying score. He then racked up another 45 yards on a catch at the end of the fourth quarter and another in overtime. Johnson only finished fourth on the team in targets, which could be an issue when the team’s passing volume inevitably dips. He will be a mid-range TE2 for another potential shootout with the Ravens next week.-Kyle Dvorchak
Mark Andrews caught 4-of-6 targets for 49 yards in the Ravens’ Week 1 win over the Colts.
While Zay Flowers dominated in the first half for the Ravens, Andrews was nowhere to be found. The veteran tight end caught just one of three targets for 17 yards in the first half but caught all three targets he saw in the second half, picking up 32 yards. Andrews led all Ravens tight ends with 23 routes run, per TruMedia, and was targeted on 26.1 percent of his routes. If Flowers (hamstring) is unable to go in Week 2 against the Saints, Andrews would see a slight bump in his fantasy stock. For now, we’ll treat him as a mid TE2.-Zachary Krueger
Pat Freiermuth caught all five of his targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 1 win over the Falcons.
Freiermuth had a down season last year, but the Steelers had talked about getting him more involved this year. The big tight end played on 49 of the team’s 67 snaps and ran a route on 36 of their 46 dropbacks. He was clearly the third option in the passing attack behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. and is a focal point in the red zone. Freiermuth is likely a solid TE2 option for the season who will flash TE1 weeks.-Eric Samulski
Dalton Schultz caught 4-of-8 targets for 35 yards in Houston’s Week 1 loss to the Bills.
He did most of his work on the offense’s final drive, catching back-to-back targets for 26 yards. Schultz managed 52-of-79 snaps. If you were going to pick anyone in this offense besides David Montgomery and Nico Collins to return consistent fantasy value, it’s probably Schultz. It’s just, you know, there are not often three Texans worth starting in fantasy football. He’ll be a high-end TE2 against the Bengals in Week 2.-Rivers McCown
Panthers declared TE Ja’Tavion Sanders, WR John Metchie, QB Haynes King, S Zakee Wheatley, OT Albert Reese, OLB Patrick Jones II, and DT Cam Jackson inactive for Week 1 against the Bears.
Sanders, who worked through a lingering ankle injury this offseason, won’t suit up for the team’s season opener. That leaves Darren Waller and Tommy Tremble as the Panthers’ top two tight ends against Chicago. Waller will be a touchdown-dependent TE2 option who probably won’t run many routes in the run-first Carolina offense. 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Jake Tonges suffered an MCL injury against the Rams.
Shanahan told reporters that it “doesn’t look good.” The 27-year-old tight end suffered the injury near the end of the first half, and it sounds like San Francisco will be without the backup tight end for some time. Cowboys signed TE Brevyn Spann-Ford to a three-year extension through 2029.
Spann-Ford initially signed on with the Cowboys as a 2024 undrafted free agent. He has caught 18 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown since then. The front office is evidently pleased with his development. He is not worth rostering in 12-team leagues. Raridon caught the first touchdown of the 2026 season on a goal line toss from Drake Maye. The Pats showed a lot of 12-personnel looks early in the game, but that faded in the second half, especially once A.J. Brown left the game with an ankle injury. Mayer, 25, immediately vaults into the TE1 tier, especially with a matchup against the Dolphins’ defense upcoming in Week 1. Taylor reportedly functioned as the Jets’ top tight end throughout training camp with Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) sidelined. Taylor, whose blocking ability recently drew praise from head coach Aaron Glenn, worked with Geno Smith two or three times a week in the offseason, developing chemistry with the veteran journeyman. Last year Taylor saw a target on 20 percent of his routes and logged a lowly 1.11 yards per route run in the low-octane New York offense. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Cowboys now have $33.2 million in salary cap space this year. They also reworked DT Kenny Clark and CB DaRon Bland’s deals. Ferguson’s $7.25 million base salary was turned into a signing bonus. For fantasy purposes, this does not alter Ferguson’s standing. The front office could have a personnel move in mind, though. ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes Isaiah Likely could be a “breakout star” in the Giants offense this season.
Graziano affirmed what every fantasy manager believes: Likely will probably be the team’s WR2 behind Malik Nabers this season. New York coaches, according to Graziano, “love the way he has embraced and evolved his relationship with Jaxson Dart since he has been in New York. Likely is a regular visitor to the quarterback room, and the connection he has formed with Dart on and off the field could pay major dividends.” Graziano said Likely could be Dart’s top option if Nabers needs time to get back to full speed as he recovers from his 2025 ACL injury. Falcons TE Kyle Pitts caught 3-of-3 targets for 59 yards in Friday’s preseason game against the Dolphins.
Pitts ripped off multiple double-digit gains, moved well and looked tough to bring down. He delivered a 37-yard catch on the Falcons’ first drive, securing the pass on a quick out route from bunch formation before taking off down the right sideline. He later had a 16-yard gain on a sort crossing route, where he again chewed up yards after the catch. Pitts is a mid-tier TE1 entering the year.-Nic Bodiford

Smith reunited with Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh last year and posted 38 catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Even with NFL players actively returning to college football, Jonnu was unable to find a way to follow his favorite offensive coordinator to Ohio State. All signs point to Tucker Kraft being fully recovered from his torn ACL by Week 1, but backup tight end Luke Musgrave remains sidelined with an injury of his own. The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia reports that the Bills TE Dalton Kincaid’s “health, summer usage, and ability are all trending toward an enhanced role in 2026.”
Kincaid’s 2024 knee injury impacted his usage and availability through the 2025 season. That injury may finally be behind him. Per Buscaglia, Kincaid has been at practice every day, looks stronger and is “playing with more physicality in the blocking game.” That last part is critical for his overall snap share. Kincaid’s increased training camp usage has notably come even with TE Dawson Knox and TE Jackson Hawes fully healthy. Buscaglia adds that Kincaid might not be “on the precipice of playing 75 percent or more of the team’s offensive snaps,” but the 26-year-old tight end should take on a bigger, more fantasy-friendly role this year if all goes well. This is just Maiocco’s “guess,” so his comments should not be taken as a declaration. Maiocco recently spoke with Kittle. They discussed the 32 hours of in-flight time to and from the 49ers’ Week 1 game in Australia, along with Kittle’s desire to be healthy for the full 2026 season. The 49ers have Super Bowl aspirations, so hurrying a star player back in time for an international season opener might not make sense. Delaying his 2026 debut to Week 2 adds 10 days to Kittle’s rehab schedule. The extra time could be hugely beneficial. PFF’s Nathan Jahnke notes that Kolar shared the field with TE David Njoku on two of the first three plays, but Kolar remained on the field for the Chargers’ first 11 personnel package. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports “Falcons people on the ground” believe Kyle Pitts is moving better than he has in years.
Fowler settles on Pitts being a “certified first or second option in the passing game.” Pitts sets up as a potential high-end TE1 on an offense that loves to use the tight end, and the fact that he finished second in fantasy points among TEs last year is proof of concept that he was already playing better in 2025. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said TE Kenyon Sadiq suffered “a little setback” in his recovery from hernia surgery.
Sadiq has missed recent training camp practices for undisclosed reasons. Now we know his recovery from surgery has not gone as expected. Though Glenn remains confident Sadiq — the team’s first round pick in the 2026 draft — will be OK for Week 1, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Sadiq’s status in the coming weeks. Cowboys TE Princeton Fant (knee) was carted off the practice field Monday.
Fant was engaged in a block during practice and took the brunt of a knee-to-knee collision. He was unable to place weight on his left leg, requiring the cart to depart the practice field. Fant will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injury. The special teams contributor has appeared in 11 games since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023.-Mark Garcia

Speaking to media Monday, head coach Sean McVay relayed that it would be “some time” before Allen returns to the practice field considering the nature of the soft tissue injury.
